Daniel Lurie: Call to Young Philanthropists

Daniel Lurie is a passionate believer in the importance of young people becoming philanthropically engaged. Through Philanthropy Australia, the Nelson Meers Foundation funded Daniel's recent tour to Australia to support our own 'new gens' make their impact. During June 2013, over 300 people attended Daniel's keynote addresses in Sydney and Melbourne which were undertaken 'in conversation style' with Katrina Strickland, Deputy Editor, Australian Financial Review Magazine. The events were held in the Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney (evening) and at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne (breakfast).

At 28, Daniel Lurie founded San Francisco's The Tipping Point to alleviate poverty in the Bay Area. Eight years later, the organisation has raised more than $60 million to educate, house and support over 250,000 Bay Area people in need, with 100% of every dollar donated going directly to the most effective poverty-fighting organisations in the community.

"Invest, measure, improve, repeat. That's how we do business." Daniel Lurie, Founder and CEO of Tipping Point Community, USA.
